This beautiful greenstone Maori Double Koru Necklace is made from genuine Ngai Tahu pounamu.
The necklace comes to you with an authentication card, and you just need to enter the code on the card into the authentication website to learn who carved it, where the stone is from, and see the piece of greenstone it was carved from.
And for those of you used to seeing only one shade of green in the greenstone you buy, the two necklaces pictured came from the same piece of Kawakawa stone. Greenstone varies from almost white to almost black, and a variety of greens, yellows, oranges and browns in-between. This is partly due to the pounamu rocks being infiltrated by other minerals over time.
The necklace is carved in a double Koru. The Koru design represents an unfurling new fern shoot, and spiritually it signifies peace, tranquility, new beginnings, and positive change. So it is a lovely gift to give on a lot of special occasions, be it a new job, a new baby, a marriage, or simply to bestow a positive feeling on the recipient.
The greenstone Koru measures approximately 4.5cm (1 3/4") in diameter.
